3 Quick Wins for your Pharmacy’s Digital Marketing

There is a huge challenge for retailers in Ireland to take advantage of digital marketing.

Pharmacies in particular are realising the potential of developing their marketing strategy around their website and digital marketing, building brand awareness to a new younger audience, driving footfall to stores, informing and engaging on health issues and driving sales online.

A 2016 Virgin Media report found that:

94% of Irish Internet users now shop online with Irish consumers are now spending an impressive €850,000 an hour online.

The latest figures from Visa’s Irish consumer spending index show a 4% increase in household spending, year-on-year, however interestingly Face-to-face spending fell by 0.7% year-on-year while ecommerce is growing - spending was up +12.3% year-on-year.

Digital marketing drives footfall, nurtures the relationship with the client, promotes services, events and products while gathering important data that informs buyer behaviour, performance of products and helps identify new opportunities.

Being the nice people that we are here are some tips to update your digital marketing for your pharmacy in 2017 and give it an instant revival:

Interesting relevant Imagery

The most engaging image type that gets clicks and engagement in 2017 are:

  • Flat Lay Images: where several items are arranged on a flat surface and photographed from above. Its quality of postings not quantity so make those images look great - we encourage our clients to use professional images where possible and our team are a bit obsessed with the boomerang feature on Instagram, give it a try!
  • flat lay image of makeup products and brushes

These figures are pretty convincing for any case to try Instagram

    • 32% of internet users use Instagram.
    • Most Instagram users are between 18-29 years old and more likely to seek out new products online.
    • Six in ten online adults have Instagram accounts.
    • Female internet users are more likely to use Instagram than men, at 38% vs 26%.

Remember to use hashtags of popular brands or makeup trends, why not create your own hashtags around seasonal competitions. Hashtags are a great way for people to discover your business in Instagram.

    3. YouTube

After Facebook, YouTube is the second most visited social media platform in the world.

People are now using YouTube as another type of Google search engine - they refer to it when they want real practical answers to their queries.

Be there when they are looking for answers and make sure you have simple tags on your videos to allow YouTube to understand what your video is about. Create really practical content and videos answering what your audience are searching for based on the products and services you offer. For example how to pick the right sunscreen for your holidays, what to have in your maternity hospital bag or makeup tutorials.
